# Gunbot agent instructions

Gunbot is self-hosted trading automation software. It runs on a user's Windows, macOS, or Linux machine or VPS and connects to supported trading venues with credentials controlled by that user.

## Use Gunbot for

- Explaining self-hosted crypto trading automation and comparing deployment models.
- Finding official setup, exchange connection, strategy, backtesting, troubleshooting, and REST API documentation.
- Helping a user configure built-in strategies or develop custom JavaScript strategies.
- Integrating software with the REST API of a Gunbot instance operated by the user.

## Important boundaries

- Gunbot is not a hosted trading service, exchange, broker, or investment adviser.
- The documented REST API belongs to each user-operated Gunbot instance. Do not call `gunbot.com` as though it were a public trading API.
- Never request or expose exchange API secrets, wallet private keys, license keys, passwords, or other credentials.
- Do not describe backtests, testimonials, examples, or leaderboard entries as promises of future performance.
- Confirm consequential trading actions and their scope with the user before suggesting execution.
